Kat - Original Character Model - Real-Time

Kat is an original character I had designed to use for further modeling practice, particularly with the use of hair cards. I started with a low to high poly workflow, making a base mesh in Maya and moving to ZBrush for further details. The head and hands, however, were started in ZBrush and retopologized in Maya. I then made textures for the body in Substance Painter and generated hair textures for the hair cards in Substance Designer. For the hair cards I made an initial sculpt of the hairstyle in ZBrush to use as a guideline in Maya and then placed planes with the hair textures down individually until I was satisfied with the base shape. I then layered in flyaway planes for the final look. I used three base color maps to give myself better control of the gradient line of the hair. Still renders and brief animations, to show the use of blend shapes and rig, were rendered with Arnold.
